the bookworm

I haven't read a good book in ages. Have been reading more "practical" stuff - pregnancy, facilitation, dialogue etc etc, but I haven't touched a lit book since I came back from Israel.

Is it a sign of growing old? When I went to the library a couple of weeks back, I lingered at the fiction section but decided that my "duty" mattered more, so off I went into the parenting section and picked up "Mommy Wars" and "The Absolute Beginners Guide to Pregnancy". Sad to say, I've yet to finish either (the mommy wars book is rather depressing after awhile; the stay at home mums sometimes feel unfulfilled and the working mums also have problems... and i just don't feel like reading about how my body is going to change etc etc)

I quite liked the "Milk Memos" which was about working ladies in IBM and their breastfeeding woes, but I think I liked it because it was humourous rather than because of its useful info (breastpumps, child care etc etc). Besides, that issue will probably only happen much later (like next yr?) so it's still very distant and unreal to me.

Basically, I think I still can't get my head around the implications of having a kid. Don't get me wrong, I love my baby (in a very ideal, i have a baby sorta way) but the whats and the hows and the whens are still not settled and that leaves me vaguely anxious...but because it's still so far away (i can't even fit nicely in my maternity dresses!) it's just floating around in my brain.

Guess I really need to rely on God and have faith that it will all work out well! And also on Hubs, who has been a pillar of strength these few months (heh heh I added that sentence cos I know you read this!!!)

Back to work...and more reading on "the SECRETS of Facilitation - The S.M.A.R.T Guide to getting results with groups".
